Oriental unisex perfumes: it's not a gender issue
Culture is evolving and one of the most debated topics today is gender fluidity. But if someone might think that it is a marketing strategy, we would like to point out that unisex perfumes have been around for thirty years.
In the 19th century, perfumes were only accessible to the wealthier classes, but little by little the perfume industry mainly targeted women, until 1930, when Caron launched the first fragrance for men. Calvin Klein is then credited with revolutionizing and redrawing the boundaries of the olfactory universe in 1994, the year in which the perfume CK One became popular, the first perfume openly marketed as unisex.
But it is in more recent times that modern society has finally decided to blur the line between what is masculine and what is feminine.
The number of stores where you can find unisex clothing, unisex toys, unisex glasses is growing and this definition could not leave out the fascinating world of niche perfumes such as artistic perfumery and Arab perfumery.
Today, perfumes are no longer clearly distinguished between "perfumes for him" and "perfumes for her", although it remains true that some olfactory families have notes typically appreciated by women and others preferred by men.
But the olfactory pyramid, in itself, is unisex, therefore there are many quality perfumery brands that support the genderless olfactory revolution, with the creation of fragrances suitable and loved by both sexes.
The charm of unisex perfumes
The perfumes we choose to wear write on our skin a whole series of memories, emotions and sensations that remain indelibly. But, to create this emotional experience linked to olfactory sensations, it is not important that a gender difference is highlighted.
This is how, especially in recent years, the perfume industry has been positively overwhelmed by unisex perfumes. More and more consumers, especially those belonging to the younger generations, are choosing to wear unisex fragrances and leave an olfactory signature that goes beyond the gender issue.
All our unisex Arabic perfumes are able to affirm the individuality of all those men and women who choose not to adhere to predefined gender stereotypes, but to wear a versatile fragrance that allows them to create connections between people and overcome conventional barriers.
In fact, unisex Arabic fragrances are appreciated for the ability of their characteristics to harmoniously balance the olfactory notes that for centuries have been associated with the male and female genders. In practice, it is possible to combine the freshness of citrus fruits and flowers with the oriental woody and musky notes - which the world of traditional perfumery has attributed to men's perfumes - floral accords are traditionally associated with women. From these combinations are born sweet and full-bodied perfumes at the same time, like Al Dur Al Maknoon Gold by Lattafa, a fresh and warm, sweet and spicy unisex fragrance.
Those aromas and scents that recall the femininity, delicacy and elegance of women, or the notes that evoke the virility, courage, strength and stability of men are fused and mixed together in unisex fragrances, eliminating such a clear distinction. The charm of perfumes becomes universal, thanks to the characteristics that adapt to both genders. An example? Ishq Al Shuyukh Gold by Lattafa, a unisex perfume in which the warm notes of saffron and caramel blend with the mystery of tonka bean, leather and musk.
Why choose a unisex Arab perfume
Unisex perfumes embrace experiences and express identities in line with the personality and lifestyle of men and women. Therefore, thinking of the unisex Arab fragrance as an extension of the individual who wears it, as a lasting distinctive sign, is the only thing that must be done to go beyond the gender issue.
Perfume is worn as if it were a second skin and not as a simple accessory, because it allows the person to express themselves and assert themselves in their uniqueness.
Having said this, those who choose a unisex oriental perfume decide to exercise their freedom of individual expression, to rely on their personal tastes and to free themselves from conventional labels. And Arab perfumery, strong in its tradition mixed with innovation, in which contrasts, research and art reign supreme, is able to give life to unique and eternal olfactory mixes, with a strong and distinctive charm.
But the advantages of unisex Arab perfumery do not end there. Unisex fragrances are very versatile, because their fresh and light notes with hints of fresh fruit and citrus, combined with spicy and musky notes, like those of the Ansaam Gold perfume by Lattafa Pride, give a perfect balance between freshness and refinement, between comfort and seduction, so they are perfect for any occasion.
In addition, unisex perfumes reduce waste because they can be worn by multiple people living in the same house and increase the sense of belonging and sharing.
